24 Apr Ty Macaulay Celebrates 10 Years at On Location
April 24, 2026, Mount Laurel, NJ —
Time with our Director of Operations Ty Macaulay is hard to come by. Between overseeing crews, supporting teams across the country, and keeping projects on track from planning through execution, the schedule rarely slows down. But in a brief window between it all, we had the chance to step back and talk through the path that’s shaped his career with On Location.
From early days working hands-on in the field to helping lead operations at a broader level, Ty has seen the business from every angle. That perspective has translated into a steady focus on building strong teams, refining how we operate, and delivering consistent results no matter the market or scale.
We caught up to hear more about the experiences that have defined the journey, the changes seen across the industry, and the moments that have stuck along the way.
Here’s what he has to say.
Do you remember your first day with On Location? What was it like?
I remember my first day with On Location very clearly. It was fast-paced, hands-on, and immediately reinforced that this is an industry where adaptability is essential and no two days look the same. Having spent many years in the field prior to joining, I was focused on understanding the On Location approach while thoughtfully integrating the experience I had gained elsewhere.
What stood out most, however, was the team. There was a strong sense of shared accountability and a willingness from everyone to step in and support one another. That level of collaboration and commitment was evident from day one and set the tone for how work gets done here.
How have your job and the industry changed over the years?
Over the past decade, both my role and the industry as a whole have evolved considerably. Projects have grown in scale and complexity, client expectations have become more sophisticated, and technology now plays a central role in planning, communication, and execution.
In my own career, the shift has been from a primary focus on execution to a broader leadership role. Today, much of my time is dedicated to building and supporting teams, developing processes, mentoring future leaders, and ensuring we deliver consistent, high-quality service across all markets. It’s been a natural progression that reflects both personal growth and the needs of the business.
What has been your biggest achievement/success at On Location?
One of my most meaningful accomplishments has been contributing to the development and expansion of strong operational teams while preserving the core values that define On Location. Being part of the company’s growth into new markets, helping team members advance into leadership roles, and implementing systems that drive consistency and accountability nationwide has been incredibly rewarding.
Ultimately, the most fulfilling aspect has been seeing people grow and succeed within the organization. That impact extends beyond any single project and speaks to the long-term strength of the company.
What’s the most memorable day you had on the show floor
One of the most memorable days of my career coincided with a major personal milestone—the birth of my daughter, Riley, just after midnight on May 28, 2016. Being present for that moment is something I’ll never forget.
At the time, I was still relatively new to On Location and navigating new responsibilities, and we had a scheduled dismantle for a large medical show with several high-profile exhibitors. Later that afternoon, I briefly stopped in to ensure the team was set up for success and had everything they needed. Thanks to the strength and support of the team, I was able to step away quickly and return to my family.
That day has always stayed with me because it reflects both the level of commitment we bring to our work and the trust we place in one another. It reinforced that strong teams make it possible to meet professional responsibilities while still being present for life’s most important moments.
Congratulations to Ty Macaulay on 10 years with On Location. His experience, leadership, and dedication have made a lasting impact, and we look forward to many more years ahead.
